Its all about preference. Like everyone will tell you, there is no "best" secondary choice. Its all about what you will be doing and personal preference. Are you going to be a healer? Protection? 55 monk farming?

Many monks who heal now aday choose to be be /mesmer secondary for the inspiration line of energy management skills. /Necro secondary used to be first choice for many because of the elite skill Offering of Blood which acted as a quick and easy form of energy regain, however instead of the past sacrifice of 10% life, it has now increased to a 20% sacrifice which is much more dangerous during PvP.

So as i suggest, go with /mesmer secondary, and check out the array of energy management skills in the Inspiration attribute, like the elite: Mantra of Recall. Hope all that helped.!

enjoy.

Yeah, now I am a Monk/necro and Anet made it useless, kinda. Offering of Blood was why I made necro my secondary

in my experience (and my main character is a 2.5 mill exp monk), there's no real use for a secondary unless you are a 55'er. Seen a few monks use mes mantra's but I don't see an advantage over just going with more heal/protect/bond stuff.

Monk/Necro is okay, but full monk is best to.

I'd suggest Mo/Me, you can use that for just about anything. For a Prot bonder build, having Mantra of Inscriptions or Mantra of Signets really helps keep your energy up. For a usual healing build, put some points into Inspiration. You could use some energy-stealing spells, but Inspiration also has hex-removal, self-healing, and many other options. I fooled around with Mo/E, using Ward Against Melee or Ward Against Elements. That may be something to try, although I didn't notice much of an advantage.

Anything will work, just look for skills that can aid your party in some way. Anything but Mo/W, that is.

What do you mean? Mo/W is bad? There seems like some good support options, but I haven't really delved as far as I can go into the pros/cons of every build. I play MTG a little and some other things, so I'm familiar with trying to work out the best synergy... Sometimes, though, it's just about having fun and going with something that you just like.
